Italy records 14,245 new Covid-19 cases

Italy has reported 14,245 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours while 347 individuals have succumbed to the virus, the country’s health authorities said on Sunday.

Some 102,974 swab tests were carried out in the past day, the ministry said, against a previous 67,174.

75,332 coronavirus related deaths were registered since 21 February. The highest death toll in Europe and the fifth highest in the world.

Italy has reported 2.155 million cases to date.

23,075 patients are receiving treatment in hospital, the health ministry said. On Sunday, there were 154 admissions to intensive care units.
