A total of 88,600 new cases of coronavirus were recorded in India on Sunday.
So far, just under 6 million cases (5,992,532) have been registered in the country according to its official figures.
1,124 deaths were also recorded, taking the official death toll to 94,503.
India has the world’s second-highest number of cases, behind the US, and the third-highest number of deaths.
