Enemalta blamed the recent power cuts on damage in a number of high-tension cables making part of its distribution network, but clarified that this network was sufficient to meet all the country’s demands.
In a statement, the company observed that during Friday and Saturday, the damages affected a number of localities across Malta and Gozo. It said that the provision of electricity was now back to normal, but added that its technicians were working round the clock to ensure that all damages were seen to.
Enemalta said that it could not exclude further electrical disruptions in a number of localities as a result of these works.
The corporation apologised for any inconvenience caused while making clear that its distribution network was “sufficient to meet all demands including those of summer and the extraordinary heat wave experienced at the moment which has led to an increased demand of electricity.”
