Partit Demokratiku has challenged the Maltese government to take up an offer put forward by the United States. Through its embassy, the US offered its assistance in the murder investigation of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia.

‘If the government chooses to ignore this offer, then it has something to hide,’ PD claimed.

In a statement on Saturday, the PD argued that if the government does not take up the US offer, then it has something to hide.

By making the offer public, the US may have probably made similar unofficial offers which were ignored, PD claimed.

A recent report said that a major businessman is among three people suspected of having ordered the assassination, as the investigation closes in.

PD said that if it turns out to be a businessman then it should be established whether it has donated any money to political parties or was engaged in any corrupt business practices with government or the Opposition.
