Iceland, the smallest nation which has ever qualified for the World Cup, is expected to play its first game on 16th June when they face Lionel Messi’s mighty Argentina.
This relatively small country has Everton’s Gylfi Sigurðsson, Aston Villa midfielder Birkir Bjarnason and Cardiff City’s Aron Gunnarsson in the team. They will try to emulate their 2016’s European Championships’ extraordinary performances which many remember. Sigurðsson is considered their best player and Icelanders were calmed down when they confirmed his recovery from a knee problem. The Icelandic National Team is currently training in Kabardinka’s Olimp Stadium and will also play against Croatia and Nigeria in Group D.
