I had to choose between Parliament and my father’s funeral – Vassallo

Tista' taqra bil- Malti.

Nationalist MP Edwin Vassallo expressed his anger at having been made to choose between attending a Parliamentary sitting and his father’s funeral. This since a Parliamentary sitting was called at the same time of the funeral, even though it was not to discuss any urgent matters, said Vassallo.

The House of Representatives expressed its condolences this morning to Vassallo. This following the loss of his father, Saviour Vassallo. Vassallo explained how when despite the sadness and the anger that he is feeling towards the situation he was put in; he is willing to forgive. He hoped that this incident could be taken as an example for future similar cases.

He insisted that “one should show respect when a funeral of a relative of someone in Parliament is set to take place. We can’t allow that everything takes precedence over respect.”
