Hospice Malta has been allocated €1 million following an agreement signed between the Ministry for Social Solidarity and Hospice Malta.
In a statement issued by the Ministry, it was explained that with the funding allocated Hospice Malta can continue providing psychological support towards family members of terminally ill patients. It can also continue investing in its employees to provide professional assistance.
Minister Michael Falzon said that this is the very first time that such an agreement with Hospice has been signed and comes at the right time in view of the struggles many families are facing due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He also mentioned that in these circumstances organisations like Hospice Malta face financial challenges due to a decrease in donations and money collected through fundraising.
Hospice Malta helps around 1,300 families with 60 new cases encountered almost every month.
