Japanese carmaker Honda has issued a recall of approximately 1.6 million vehicles to replace front-passenger airbag inflators which are deemed to be potentially deadly.
The recall includes many Honda and Acura models manufactured between 2002 and 2015, and is being made to replace the inflators, manufactured by Takata, with inflators made by another company.
Honda’s authorised dealer in Malta, GasanZammit Motors, has followed suit in announcing a recall.
“This defect can seriously injure or at worst be life-threatening and all safety recall repairs are free if your vehicle has been affected,” a company spokesman said.
The company asked Honda owners to check whether their vehicle should be recalled for repairs by entering its VIN Number through honda.com.mt/cars or by sending an email on email@example.com.
