Health Commissioner appeals for direction from health authorities

The Commissioner for Health in the Office of the Ombudsman, Charles Messina, declared that he is in full agreement that all events which attract masses have to be immediately cancelled. He also appealed for direction from the Health Authorities.

In a statement issued on Thursday the Commissioner said he believes that from the evidence available, there is no doubt that action has to be taken otherwise the situation will become desperate.

“In the past months, our healthcare professionals, the general public and businesses made huge sacrifices. It has to be ensured that what has been achieved is not lost” – stated the Health Commissioner.

The Malta Union of Midwives and Nurses on Thursday announced that more than 30 nurses are in quarantine and are being deprived of their children and their families. The President of the MUMN Paul Pace announced this in a post on Facebook addressed to Prime Minister Robert Abela.
