He used the talents bestowed onto him by God in beautiful ways – Bishop-Elect Mons Joe Galea Curmi

Bishop-Elect Mons Joe Galea Curmi describes artist Gabriel Caruana as a man who knew how to use the talents bestowed onto him by God in the most beautiful way possible. The Bishop-Elect gave the homily during Caruana’s funeral, where the church was packed with Ħal Balzan residents. Caruana was a Ħal Balzan resident, and was also one of St. Gabriel Band Club’s benefactors.

“He brought Malta pride”, said Mons Galea Curmi, “and his art was internationally renowned. He also understood how to live his faith through his art, because he used it to express it”. He explained how the figure of the Annunciation is found in his art in diverse ways. He said that Caruana was a staunch follower of Christ’s words, particularly “whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me”. For this too, Caruana will be remembered, concluded Mons Galea Curmi.
