Watch: The local artiste who caught the eye – and ear – of Stravinsky

Did you know that local artist/composer Pawlu Grech’s music was acknowledged and supported by Russian composer Stravinsky?

You can get the chance to meet with the eclectic Mr Grech on Friday 14th June at Palazzo De La Salle’s Concert Hall in Valletta, where a one-off piano recital of his works by Ramona Zammit Formosa will precede the inauguration of an exhibition which focuses his the multi-faceted creative topology. The event, entitled Departures, will be the world-premier of various early works written in the composer’s formative years.

During this episode of Newsbook.com.mt‘s online cultural programme ‘Take a Bow‘, presented by Coryse Borg, Gabriel Zammit gives an insight into the life of this extraordinary man, whose work seeks to interrogate the patterns and rules that underlie the everyday world by departing from them, presenting their absence and thereby lifting them – and the possibility of alternative modes of being – into the sphere of attention.

The event is supported by the Malta Arts Council Arts Fund.

Tickets for the concert may be purchased online. More information may be found on Pawlu Grech’s website or the Facebook event page.
