Have we learnt nothing from COVID-19? Newsbook’s fully-booked Business Breakfast discusses traffic and mobility

In the Newsbook Business Breakfast due to be held on Thursday 23rd July, we will tackle the issue of traffic congestion.

Once described as a ‘perception’, this daily reality frequently starts and ends our days in misery.

Is congestion a question of land-use planning or is it a question of road design and management? What is the cost of all this urban gridlock? Is traffic a reality or is it that we all go out at the same time, creating bottlenecks? Can we live without cars and are we ready for a modal shift?

These will be among the main issues raised during this business breakfast, in which the main speakers will be Minister for Transport Dr Ian Borg and Opposition MP Perit Toni Bezzina.

The session will also be addressed by well-known names such as Perit David Xuereb, President Chamber of Commerce, Dr Michelle Attard Tonna who leads the Bicycle Advocacy Group, Konrad Pule from Malta Public Transport, Matthew Bezzina CEO eCabs, Prof. Maria Attard, transport expert and Nadine Mercieca, from the Environment and Resources Authority.

The panel will place before the audience challenging ideas and data with the aim of stimulating a debate. The discussion will be moderated by Newsbook.com.mt’s Deputy Editor Amy Borg.

This post-COVID Newsbook Business Breakfast will take place at the Poseidon Hall, Seashells Resort at Suncrest Qawra on Thursday 23rd July 2020. Registration is at 8:30 am. Appropriate distancing and hygiene will be maintained throughout the event.

The discussion will be followed by a networking event.
