Watch: Group of rescued immigrants relocate to Germany – PM

Malta’s Prime Minister Joseph Muscat announced on Twitter that yet another group of immigrants have been relocated from Malta for Germany.

Muscat thanked Germany for “continuing to honour its pledges taking migrants brought to Malta”. He added that this is part of European ad hoc agreements.

Last week, a group of immigrants which had disembarked in Malta after being rescued by the ship Alan Kurdi, left for France.

In the recent days, Malta has served as a safe port for hundreds of immigrants, which are expected to be relocated to various countries soon. Last Saturday, Malta welcomed 356 immigrants, after they were saved by Ocean Viking, the vessel belonging to SOS Mediteranee and Doctors Without Borders (MSF).

Two rescue operations took place yesterday, where 89 immigrants followed by an additional group of 73 immigrants disembarked in Haywharf. It is believed that all are men, except one woman.
