EU funds have facilitated the restoration of the trompe l’oeil majestic dome of the Cathedral of Gozo. Masterfully restored, the initiative was taken to protect this masterpiece against architectural hazards. Several speakers gave their input during the inauguration ceremony whereby this project was portrayed as a gift to the diocese.
“Doing justice to our ancestors and successors” – Hon Justyne Caruana
Minister for Gozo Justyne Caruana said that this project is part of a greater project whereby 13 churches or chapels in Gozo are being restored. These restorations are worth over €2,000,000. The Minister added that by preserving our patrimony, Gozo is being promoted as a touristic destination.
