Gozitan cancer patients to receive treatment at Barts Medical School

Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Chris Fearne confirmed that despite the current situation of coronavirus and the measures taken at the Gozo General Hospital to address the situation, patients who receive chemotherapy will continue to receive the treatment.

Health Minister Fearne said that the chemotherapy treatment will be provided at Barts Medical Schools.

Chris Fearne was replying to a parliamentary question made by Nationalist MP Kevin Cutajar.

In view of the coronavirus situation, during a press conference on Saturday, the Deputy Prime Minister said that at the Gozo General Hospital, Steward Healthcare will make available 120 beds for patients suffering from coronavirus.

Fearne also said that the government has asked Steward Healthcare to also prepare 20 beds within the ITU at the Gozo General Hospital. 13 out of the 20 beds will be allocated for coronavirus patients.
