As from Monday 21st, December children aged 2 and over will receive a nasal spray against influenza. The nasal spray will be available and administered at Health Centres and those until 18 years of age can receive it.
The Health Ministry announced that this is the first time that the country received 25,000 nasal spray or children to protect them from influenza without the need to get the vaccine against seasonal influenza.
The Ministry explained that the period during which the nasal spray will be available from the health centres has been allocated for during the Christmas holidays so by the time they return to school the children would have already received the nasal spray to build their immune system against seasonal influenza.
It was also announced that those who are allergic to eggs and those who suffer from immunosuppressive conditions are advised not to make use of the nasal spray.
