None of the government’s proposals to reform the construction industry have been implemented said the Nationalist Party in a statement issued by PN MPs Toni Bezzina and Kevin Cutajar.

The two PN MPs said that after the reform implemented by Minister Ian Borg failed the government had the opportunity to implement the necessary reforms to avoid tragedies as we have witnessed in the past months.

The Nationalist Party has also endorsed the appeal made by the Kamra tal-Periti to the government.

On Monday the Kamra tal-Periti reminded the government that it has committed itself to bring significant changes to the construction industry and explained that one year has gone by since the issuance of a letter received by the Kamra tal-Periti from the government and yet none of the commitments mentioned have been implemented.

The Nationalist Party mentioned how the government has promised to establish a building and construction authority, the publication of the new regulations and to present in Parliament amendments to the law that regulates architects but the country is still waiting said the MPs Toni Bezzina and Kevin Cutajar.

On Monday the President of the Kamra tal-Periti Simone Vella Lenicker said that she had written to the Prime Minister requesting a meeting to present proposals on the 12th June 2020 but the Office of the Prime Minister did not even acknowledge the request.
