The government will be streaming its media events in the context of the current situation. Following its announcement to close all educational institutions for a week, the Department of Information provided the media with a link and invited the media to follow the video conference on social media rather than physically attend.

The Department of Information is tasked with sending out the government’s media events for the next day. On Thursday, in a press notice, the media was informed that Tourism Minister Julia Farrugia Portelli will preside over the BOV Deloitte Q4 Tourism Performance Survey Presentation.

The press was asked to follow the conference online rather than attend the event.

A spokesperson for the government said that there will be a decrease in media events. Further, the government will look into choosing which events can be streamed. He added that there will be press conferences for which the media would be invited to attend in person.

On Thursday, two patients tested positive for the novel coronavirus, Covid-19, bringing up the number to nine. In every case, the patient contracted the virus abroad. To date there are no reports of local transmission.
