Godfrey Farrugia launches bid for PD Leader

Partit Demokratiju (PD) Member of Parliament Godfrey Farrugia is being nominated to for the role of leader of the party. This was announced in a press release issued by the Deputy Leader Timothy Alden, wherein he seconded the current Leader, Dr Anthony Buttigieg, in Farrugia’s nomination.

On Facebook, Alden said that the day Farrugia joined the PD, he had inspired him. He described how they had gone to the Labour Party’s Headquarters, asking why the party media was not talking about the fact that Farrugia had moved on to the PD. The Deputy Leader said that he then accompanied Farrugia to give a speech in Żebbuġ, where he had served as a mayor for eight years.

Alden stated that Farrugia does not care about power and that the reason behind him contesting for this position is that he believes this is the right decision for both the party and the country. He said, that in his opinion, Farrugia can become a Prime Minister everyone trusts.
