Germany’s federal states are reported to plan to allow gatherings of up to 10 people for this year’s Christmas and New Year festivities.

A draft proposal shows that the premiers of the sixteen states of the Federal Republic are due to discuss their plans with Chancellor Angela Merkel on Wednesday, according to international news agency Reuters.

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Germany increased by 13,554 to 942,687, data from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) for infectious diseases showed on Tuesday. The reported death toll rose by 249 to 14,361.

Meanwhile, the first coronavirus immunisation centres could be in use by next month, German Health Minister Jens Spahn has revealed, according to DW. Germany has secured more than 300 million vaccine doses via the European Commission under bilateral contracts and options, Spahn estimated.
