Two months after the regular briefings which made her a household name were stopped, the Superintendent of Public Health Charmaine Gauci will be briefing the media once more on the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic in Malta.
The briefings had initially been a daily event, which were eventually carried out via videoconferencing as the public was urged to stay indoors. Their frequency was reduced in May, before they were stopped on 3 June.
Informed sources have told Newsbook.com.mt that the briefing is set to take place at the Auberge de Castile.
Last week, Gauci had participated in a press conference held by Health Minister Chris Fearne to announce a series of restrictions concerning mass activities in the wake of the ongoing spike in cases.
The new measures failed to impress the unions representing health professionals, with doctors starting a strike affecting most non-essential services on Thursday.
For the second day in succession, 20 new cases of Covid-19 were reported on Thursday, bringing the total number of active cases up to 267.
