A freephone was set up to assist fishermen and farmers who were adversely impacted by the storm which battered the islands over the past weekend. The Parliamentary Secretariat for Farming and Fisheries announced that freephone 80072213 is open as of Tuesday.
In a statement, those affected negatively were invited to get in touch with the department which would then provide them with assistance and relevant information.
The freephone is operated daily from 8am to 7pm, and includes Saturdays and Sundays.
The Rural Development Department is carrying site inspections to identify the extent of damages suffered by the farmers, according to the same statement.
Newly set up farmers association, Għaqda Bdiewa Attivi, have documented some of the damage caused by the gale winds that hit the island. The Association stated that tens of thousands of euros worth of investment vanished.
