Frank Zammit; from altar boy to Vatican Ambassador

Frank Zammit is the new Maltese Ambassador to the Vatican, being chosen in a ceremony on the 13th December presided by Pope Francis. Zammit was an altar boy in the 1977 Pontificate of Pope Paul VI in the Vatican.

The new Ambassador’s link to the Vatican comes from years of research, having informed President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca of the position at the Holy See two years ago. He also helped when Malta put of a crib exhibition at the Vatican in 2016. This same nativity scene is currently being exhibited at the entrance to Valletta, near the Triton Fountain.

In comments to Italian media, he said that his experience as an altar boy during his childhood was an honour, as is his new role.
