Dar tal-Providenza has recently announced that Fr Martin will be taking a step back after he was diagnosed with cancer. During an interview on Newsbook Hour aired on 103FM – Malta’s Heart and hosted by Jes Saliba, Fr Martin said that he will start receiving treatment on Monday.

Fr Martin also explained that the coronavirus pandemic has had an impact on the care home. He remarked that initially he was concerned about the safety and well-being of the residents given that in other countries similar care homes had experienced a high death toll. Dar tal-Providenza took various measures in order to safeguard the residents including monitoring the body temperature of employees, requiring them to change their shoes and clothes upon arrival.
