Four new tunnels to improve traffic on St. Julian’s bypass

Infrastructure Malta has announced plans for four new tunnels and the widening of Triq Sant’Andrija in Pembroke, St. Julian’s and the neighbouring localities. This is being done to improve the road network efficiency and connectivity.

The proposed plans are showing works from Triq il-Kosta up to Triq Reġjonali just before the Manwel Dimech bridge and the north side entrance of the Ta’ Ġiorni tunnels. On Friday, Infrastructure Malta filed the initial applications with the Planning Authority so that it would be able to launch the public consultation process of the project, and obtain the necessary permits as per applicable procedures.

This project will amongst others also see the rebuilding of Triq Sant’ Andrija and part of Triq il-Kosta, which upon completion will have four traffic lanes. Some traffic lights will also be removed.
