Food hampers for hungry Filipinos

Tista' taqra bil- Malti.

Thousands of hungry people in Bataan are receiving hampers with rice, oil, flour, milk, sugar and cans of preserved food, thanks to donations from Malta.

Fr Joe Cremona MSSP said this during preparations for this year’s edition of the marathon Oħloq Tbissima.

Bataan is a province in the Philippines that is experiencing an economic crisis resulting from the impact of COVID 19. This has led to many people losing their jobs, and therefore being unable to support their families.

Each week Fr Joe distributes hampers with these essential food products. He was able to do so through donations from Malta collected last year by the Ċentru Animazzjoni Missjunarja of the Missionary Society of St. Paul, under the direction of Fr Louis Mallia MSSP, during last year’s edition of Oħloq Tbissima.

Funds raised during the marathon will be used to meet the needs of the various missions that St. Paul’s Missionary Society has around the world, in some of the poorest regions of the countries where they serve.

This year, Oħloq Tbissima will be held between the 17th and the 19th of July. The marathon will be broadcast live on the main TV stations, as well as live streams on the Oħloq Tbissima Facebook page.
