Fomm ir-Riħ situation explained

Fomm ir-Riħ’s alleged ‘brown’ pollution is just the effect which falling clay creates around the entire beach.

This was confirmed by the Environment and Resources Authority (ERA) after sent several questions on the issue a month ago.

Since clay is exposed to all the natural elements, it has been gradually weakened and has deteriorated towards the surrounding sea.

ERA’s spokesperson explained that this is a natural and a necessary process so that beaches hold on to their natural volume and, unless irreversible damage is done by this mass wasting, there is no need for intervention.
