The Uphill Challenge is a cycling event whereby the participants try to raise money for a local charity. Over the past five years the event has attracted hundreds of participants and spectators in similar events in Luxembourg and Curaçao and for the first time ever the event is going to be hosted in Malta on the 24th November 2019.
The goal of the event is to raise money for charity by climbing the Miġra l-Ferħa hill as many times as possible within a three hours’ time frame. The course is approximately 1.6 km long. Over this distance, one climbs approximately 500 meters with a maximum slope of 12.3%.
During the race all riders will have a digital tracking device fitted on their bike that will track very accurately the number of climbs you make and your time per lap. At the end of the race we will have a ceremony for the top three riders (overall) that have raised the highest amount of sponsor money and both a top three for men and woman with the most number of laps completed.
All the profits of the uphill challenge 2019 edition will go to the Inspire Foundation; they will specifically dedicate this year’s funds to a project in their Gozo facility. The classroom is in need of urgent upgrading in order for the children to have proper and suitable furniture and other learning needs.
