The Residenza San Ġużepp in Fgura, a care home which has seen a sizeable proportion of its residents test positive for Covid-19, reported 26 more recoveries.
The care home made the announcement through its Facebook page. Newsbook.com.mt has sought to verify the figures with the Health Ministry, so far unsuccessfully.
The home had previously reported seven recoveries, bringing the total number of recoveries reported up to 33.
But the vast majority of Covid-19 cases at the home remain active. A few days ago, 113 of the Fgura residence’s 278 residents had tested positive for Covid-19, of which 14 had been hospitalised, and at least two Covid-related deaths have been reported. Additionally, 29 members of staff had tested positive, with a further 50 going on quarantine.
The care home maintained that most cases so far have been asymptomatic.
The health authorities reported 29 new cases of Covid-19 and 43 recoveries earlier in the day. But they also confirmed that the Covid-19 cases reported on Friday included 3 cases linked to another care home not previously mentioned in its daily bulletins: Casa San Paolo.
