Deputy PM Chris Fearne has broken his silence on the current tsunami which is engulfing several sectors of society, not least which the political class. In a comment to The Times, Fearne said that the damage done to Malta’s reputation by those involved in the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia is “almost irreparable”.

“Those who carried out the murder, those who commissioned it and anyone involved have done great harm – almost irreparable – to Malta’s reputation,” Fearne said on Monday morning. “Our priority is to solve this case and restore Malta’s reputation.”

Earlier, Minister Evarist Bartolo too spoke of the need for ‘pruning’ the party and suggested that Minister Konrad Mizzi and Chief of OPM Staff Keith Schembri resign. On cue, Minister Mizzi said that the electoral mandate is strong and that such discussions should not be held in public as these would only benefit the opposition.
