A father of three was remanded in custody this afternoon after pleading not guilty to engaging in sexual acts without consent with a girl aged 15.
The man, 38, is from Naples and was charged with defiling the girl whilst commuting on the bus from Sliema to Mellieħa. The court heard how the girl was cornered and could not get out of her seat.
Magistrate Joseph Mifsud reprimanded the man, saying “that he had no right to harass her. Woman are not objects. You should have controlled yourself.”
Police Inspector Jonathan Ransley said that the man could get up to 7 years in prison for such an act.
The defense counsel Martin Fenech argued that the man had behaved himself during the past two years since he moved to Malta for work.
