Newsbook.com.mt asked a representative for Enemalta as to why no explanation was given in relation to the provision of electricity and if the Interconnector was needed given the malfunctioning of the powerstations. The spokesman merely said that later on during the day, Enemalta will communicate with the media.

According to the Enemalta website, scheduled power cuts were scheduled to cater for planned network maintenance in Birkirkara, Balzan, Safi, Swieqi, Naxxar and Għarb.
