During the festa-week it is customary for local churches to be adorned with all their treasures. Therefore it was for this reason that artefacts such as the 1707 monstrance, the 19th-century reliquary and various silver antependia and candle-sticks were transferred temporarily from the exhibition into the church.
Valletta and the Dominicans: a common journey is an exhibition narrating how the story of the City of Valletta has often intertwined with that of the Dominican Community in the capital.
This exhibition is organised by Heritage Malta and the Parish of St Mary of Porto Salvo and St Dominic. The exhibition includes paintings, prints, manuscript volumes, object d’art, vestments and curious paraphernalia from the national and Parish collections to narrate Valletta’s Dominican imprint.
The exhibition is open until the 7th October at the Dominican Priory in Valletta on a daily basis from 10.00am to 4.00pm. On the occasion of the festivity of St Dominic, opening hours will be extended until 8.00pm on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th.
Admission is free.
