Everton have tabled an offer worth £18m to bring in Lucas Digne. The defender’s current contract with Barcelona ends in 2021 and his release clause stands at £90m. However the Spanish side are ready to lower the asking price for the 25-year-old who made just 20 appearances for the La Liga side last season.
The left-back moved to Barcelona two years ago and has often found himself as second choice behind Jordi Alba. Didier Deschamps decided not to pick up Digne for this year’s World Cup despite boasting 21 caps for his country. A move to Everton would guarantee more playing time for Digne as the English club are searching for a long-term replacement for left-back Leighton Baines.
