Minister Evarist Bartolo criticised those who are attacking the President in the present crisis. It is incorrect to criticise President George Vella, said Bartolo, for what are some are considering to be lack of action in the current political situation.
“He is doing everything which the Constitution allows him to do. The Constitution itself is now showing its drawbacks” Bartolo added.
Bartolo wrote this in a Facebook post Saturday morning, another in a series of daily posts some of which were very direct and controversial.
Education Minister Evarist Bartolo said that political leaders come and go, but the principles on which the Labour Party is built on will remain unchanged.
Bartolo congratulated all those who will be contesting for the position of party leader.
“Rotten apples have no place in PL”
On Friday, Minister Bartolo remarked that rotten apples have no place in the Labour basket. Bartolo said that the party should not carry the can because of a few rotten apples, since the Party has lots of honest persons of goodwill.
In a previous post, Bartolo said that he was sorry that he had not taken a stronger “position in 2016…it was one of the political mistakes of my career…I believed what they told me”.
He had also reminded his readers on Facebook that three years ago, when the Panama Papers scandal and the involvement of Keith Schembri and Konrad Mizzi became public, he had warned against the tandem between politicians and businessmen.
