The Labour Party (PL) stated that the €2.25 billion package negotiated with the European Union (EU) is double what the Nationalist Government attained during the negotiations for the 2014-2020 European budget.
This was stated in a press release issued by the Labour Party (PL), that added that the PN had more favourable conditions for negotiation 7 years ago, since Malta was floundering under its leadership and therefore greatly needed the financial aid.
The PL added that such a negotiation is all the more significant when considering that the EU lost the second-largest contributor to the European budget, the UK. Brexit lead to a decrease of €75 billion in the budget.
The release concluded by saying that this is proof that the Labour Government is focused on its electoral mission, and not putting out fires on the inside.
