The Environment and Resource Authority’s analysis report on potential land reclamation projects is at an advanced stage.
In a statement, the Environment Ministry said that various sites are being considered along the Maltese and Gozitan coasts in terms of “potential search areas for land reclamation projects.”
The focus of the analysis report is to consider the “environmental context and perspective”, while the main objective is to find sites which fit within parameters set for the purpose of this analysis. The criteria also aim at limiting impacts on the Habitat Directive Annex 1, the conservation of natural marine and land areas, and the avoidance of disturbing protected sites.
The report will be finished next year, according to the statement.
