The Environment and Resource Authority (ERA) said that it is currently investigating the vandalism that has been done on several trees in Dwejra.
It issued a press release saying that it is in contact with the San Lawrenz Local Council regarding the issue, for potential further action. The Authority condemned such vandalism of protected trees.
Car driven in protected area at Ramla l-Ħamra
In the same press release, ERA said that it has been informed of a vehicle that was driven on the beach at Ramla l-Ħamra, which classifies as a protected area. It explained that L-Inħawi tar-Ramla, where the car was driven, is declared as a Special Area of Conservation of International Importance and Special Protection Area as published in the Government Gazette No. 681 of 5th June 2018. Vehicular access on the beach is prohibited in this area unless it is duly justified and pre-authorised by ERA.
ERA hence requested the assistance of the Police on the matter in order for legal proceedings as per the Flora, Fauna and Natural Habitats Protection Regulations, 2006 (SL549.44), to be taken against the offender.
The Authority also commented on the illegal dumping done at Imtaħleb, saying it has issued a stop and compliance order.
Any acts on the environment can be reported to the ERA via telephone on 2292 3500 or on firstname.lastname@example.org
