The Work Life Balance Directive is a step away from becoming law, as the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs approved the agreement reached by PN Head of Delegation and MEP David Casa with the Council on the said directive, on Tuesday.
The agreement was approved by 31 votes in favour and 3 votes against.
In a statement the MEP said that this EU law means a direct investment in citizens across the European Union. He remarked that the support the directive received on Tuesday augurs well for the final vote which should take place in a few weeks in the Plenary in Strasbourg. Once the final vote is taken Member States have three years to transpose the directive into their national legislation.
Casa stated that the Directive was part of the drive towards a more social Europe.
