Applicants applying with Transport Malta (TM) for their driving practical tests are waiting as much as eight weeks to get a slot.
Informed sources told Newsbook.com.mt that this has caused a feud between the Malta Driving Instructors Association (MDIA) and Transport Malta regarding the issuing of driving warrants and setting dates for practical tests.
It is believed that although TM is continuously issuing warrants for persons to start their driving lessons, those applying for their practical tests have to wait for weeks; causing stress on the instructors which are left with an excess amount of applicants.
Moreover, according to sources, Transport Malta has recently employed six new practical test examiners.
Newsbook.com.mt reached the MDIA asking for further information on the matter. The association responded that “we are still undergoing meetings with TM regarding the issues mentioned. At this point in time we can’t give out any information.” It added that “hopefully the association will have another meeting with TM beginning of next month to see how it is progressing”.
Although questions sent by Newsbook.com.mt to TM have been acknowledged, they have not yet been answered.
