Gozitan road workers are being kept busy this week resurfacing a street in Xewkija and parts of two streets in Kerċem, the Gozo Ministry announced on Wednesday.
The ministry issued its statement after Minister Clint Camilleri paid a visit to the roadworks in question.
In Xewkija, Triq Santa Eliżabetta is being resurfaced through an investment of €256,000, with Camilleri highlighting that a new water main culvert, as well a new storm water culvert linking existing culverts in Triq Santa Katerina and Mġarr Road are being dug up before the resurfacing takes place. The street’s pavements are also being rebuilt anew.
Parts of Triq Qasam San Pawl and Triq ta’ Doti in Kerċem, are also being resurfaced at a cost of just under €183,000. The project also includes new pavements and gutters and an upgrade of the sewage system, which will also include extending the service to cover all residences in this peripheral part of the locality.
Camilleri said that the ministry’s investment of around €440,000 in these projects was testament to the government’s commitment to invest in the infrastructure of Gozitan localities, to the benefit of residents and visitors alike.
