The Water Services Corporation will be investing €4 million on more advanced drainage systems and technologies.
The corporation announced this as part of its ‘Net Zero Impact Utility’ project, which is funded by the European Union.
The new technology will facilitate the retrofitting of existing plants that will improve the water treatment process by reducing chemical and electrical usage and limiting odours.
This development will create new opportunties to produce new water.
This project is part of a €35 million investment for further development.
The Water Services Corporation is asking the general public to be careful as to what they dispose of in the drainage and to only discard biodegradable toilet paper through the system.
