Does the Equality Bill threaten Church schools?

Tista' taqra bil- Malti.

The two drafts of the Equality Bill being discussed in Parliament are turning out to be very controversial.

More than 14 professional bodies criticize the bill both for the inclusion of the supremacy clause as well as for the exclusion of a clause permitting conscientious objection. Others are saying that the bills pave the way for the introduction of abortion and euthanasia. On the other hand, supporters of the bill say that this will end discrimination once and for all. Parents who send their children to Church schools believe that the bills threaten the ethos of Church schools.

What is the truth?

Today at 4.00pm on, Fr Joe Borg moderates a discussion between Minister Edward Zammit Lewis, who is piloting the bills, and Nationalist MP Karl Gouder. Cynthia Chircop from the Malta Gays Rights Movement and Fr Jimmy Bartolo SJ, Rector of St Aloysius College, will also contribute to the discussion.
