Earlier this morning, 3 divers were rescued from Xatt l-Aħmar in Għajnsielem at around noon.
According to several sources, who spoke to Newsbook.com.mt, one diver did not take enough intervals when going up from his dive. Not doing sufficient stops will result in the build up of un-dissolved nitrogen, causing decompression sickness, not oxygen problems.
All three divers were taken to Gozo General Hospital for further assistance.
The divers are soldiers within the Armed Forces of Malta and were undertaking a training session with the AFM.
A Police spokeswoman confirmed with Newsbook.com.mt that this accident has indeed taken place.
