A disused quarry has been converted into a solar farm which is providing enough energy to power 760 households.
The solar farm is spread over 29,000sqm of land, and is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by almost 1,000 tonnes a year. The site has also been landscaped with indigenous vegetation.
The project was the initiative of Hili Company and its partners, with CEO Edward Hili arguing that the project “presses all the right buttons for both the private and the public sectors, benefitting both the economy and the environment.”
“We recognise that more needs to be done to move towards a greener economy and we are determined to play our part,” he concluded.
