Displaced children need all possible help – The President of Malta

President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro-Preca said that the 30 million children that been displaced by conflict and which are still in need of protection is unacceptable and the situation needs to be ratified with a long-term solution. She said this during her address at a United Nations high-level conference entitled: ‘Funding the Future: Challenges and Responses to the Reintegration of Child Soldiers’.

The President said that displaced children are extremely vulnerable and need context-specific protection and should have access to education, healthcare and psycho-social assistance to help them reclaim their childhood. She stressed on the urgency to provide solutions as these children are the present and the future and urged all public and private stakeholders to rise to the challenge and prioritise the dignity and wellbeing of each and every child.
