The developers’ lobby has a new director and chief executive officer for its learning and training academy.
In a statement on Saturday, the Malta Developers Association said that it appointed Ray Abela to this post.
MDA explained that the academy which was launched earlier this year, is aimed at raising the overall standards of the construction industry in particular those who are directly involved in the business which include skilled workers and professionals.
Ray Abela has 30 years of experience in the educational and technology learning sector.
“The MDA is a great opportunity to transfer my knowledge in the adult learning and technology areas onto the young MDA Academy which we want to see growing to become the leading training academy for one of the most important economic pillars of our island,” Abela said upon his appointment.
MDA President Sandro Chetcuti said that Abela’s appointment as the academy’s first director is another important milestone in the association’s vision for the construction industry. “Our aim is that workers and professionals involved in the industry acquire the right skills and knowledge to remain in touch with the evolving challenges the industry is facing,” Chetcuti said.
The MDA said that it was accredited by the National Commission for Further and Higher Education and was in the process of obtaining international recognition.
