Opposition Leader Adrian Delia has welcomed MEP David Casa’s testimony, who in Court declared that he holds no evidence of payment between Yorgen Fenech and the PN to ensure that he was not re-elected in last year’s European Parliament elections.
David Casa gave his testimony on Friday during the Public Inquiry into the murder of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia.
In a statement, Delia insisted that this reinforces and confirms what he has already said in the affidavit confirmed by oath in which he denied all the false allegations made against him.
Delia added that, following last year’s MEPs election, he appointed Roberta Metsola as Head of the PN Delegation to the European Parliament as he felt that this was the fairest decision, as 38,206 voted for Metsola while only 20,493 voted for Casa.
“It does not mean the act was not committed” – Casa
In his reaction, Casa stated that although he does not possess the evidence, it does not mean that the act was not committed. He reminded that these allegations were made by three different individuals close to Yorgen Fenech.
The MEP also stated that to anyone “who thinks they can shut me (Casa) up – no matter what you do and no matter what you conspire, my work against corruption and money laundering will continue.”
“Misleading strategy led to vote against Delia”
The ‘Friends of Adrian Delia’ stated that this “deceptive and dirty campaign” was made in complicity with the media to tarnish the reputation of the PN Leader.
They added that this misleading strategy led to a vote being taken with misinformation and that this same misinformation was spread among the members of the Executive leading to another vote against Delia.
They encouraged members to vote during the General Council for the confirmation of Delia with an X mark in the orange box.
