DeGiorgio brothers request denied by Court

Tista' taqra bil- Malti.

On Tuesday, the Court presided by Magistrate Claire Micallef Stafrace denied the request made by the brothers Alfred and George DeGiorgio to authorise a meeting with MEPs David Casa and Ana Gomes.

The brothers had made this request last week during the compilation of evidence against them and Vincent Muscat in relation to the case where they stand accused of the assassination of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia in October 2017. They had asked the Court to authorise a meeting with the two MEPs with the presence of the foreign media. This led to an objection of this “extraordinary” request from the prosecution and the lawyers representing the parte civile.

Casa and Gomes reject Degiorgio brothers’ request for a meeting

The MEPS had given an immediate reaction to the request made by the two brothers who are currently incarcerated at the Malta Prisons in Corradino. Casa and Gomes have also issued a joint press release stating that “it is not up to politicians to negotiate with persons suspected of murder”.
