Daphne’s sister to address women’s summit in New York

Corinne Vella, sister of murdered journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia, is to address the 2020 Women in the World Summit in New York in April.

The organisation’s website details that Vella will be giving her address alongside other ‘powerful female role models whose personal stories illuminate the most pressing international issues.’ These women range from CEOs, world leaders, actors, authors to all sorts of other professions and activist pursuits.

The summit is taking place during a year in which the U.S. will be marking the 100th anniversary of when women became full citizens by winning the right to vote. It is to be held at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.

Some of the speakers include:

  • Corinne Vella, Daphne Caruana Galizia’s sister
  • Demi Moore, actress and author
  • Christine Lagarde, European Central Bank President
  • Phoebe Waller-Bridge, a Golden Globe winner 

Past speakers include Oprah Winfrey, Malala Yousafzai, Angelina Jolie, and Priyanka Chopra.
